Garden waste: green-bin subscription and refusal risks
Halton’s green bin is for garden waste from eligible subscribed properties. It is not an overflow bin, food bin or DIY-waste bin.
2026/27 charge
The official fees schedule lists garden waste collection at £50 per bin.
Accepted green-bin waste
Grass cuttings, hedge clippings, twigs, bark, leaves, flowers, plants, small branches and chopped Christmas trees are accepted.
Rejected green-bin waste
Food, kitchen waste, household rubbish, paper, cardboard, plastic bags, tubs, flower pots, logs, thick branches, soil, rubble and animal waste are not allowed.

Halton’s dedicated food-waste page says the new weekly household food waste collection service launches from Autumn 2026, with specific collection dates and container details still to be announced.

Halton rubbish removal and bulky collection rules
Bulky collection is for Halton residents, not businesses or landlords. The council confirms the date, accepted items and collection point by email.
Up to 3 bulky items
The 2026/27 fee is £32 for up to 3 bulky household items. Payment must be made before the job can be allocated.
Additional items
Additional bulky items cost £8.50 each, up to 3 extra items. A corner sofa is counted by the number of pieces.
