| Winter | 1 October–31 March | 8am–5pm | Allow extra time for poor weather and earlier darkness. |
| Booking window | Rolling seven days | New slots released daily | Check again later if the preferred time is unavailable. |

2. Put last-drop items in first
Load materials likely to be unloaded near the end of your route at the bottom or rear of the vehicle.
3. Keep dangerous items upright
Secure paint, oils, gas bottles and chemicals so containers cannot leak or roll.
4. Keep documents accessible
Do not bury the booking email or proof of address under the waste load.
Avoid being refused or creating a safety risk
| Rule | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Wear gloves | Protect your hands while moving waste. | Broken or sharp materials may be hidden in loads. |
| Wear sensible footwear | Use closed shoes or boots, not sandals or flip-flops. | The site surface can contain sharp or heavy objects. |
| Wear trousers | Avoid shorts when unloading. | This reduces exposure to cuts and contact hazards. |
| Do not climb into skips | Ask site staff if an item falls into the wrong container. | Skip edges and moving waste are dangerous. |
| Do not use a mobile phone | Stop safely outside the operational area if needed. | Drivers and pedestrians must remain alert. |
| No hot ashes or disposable BBQs | Allow everything to become completely cold. | Hot material can start skip and vehicle fires. |
| No smoking | Wait until you leave the site. | Waste loads can contain flammable materials. |
| Do not bring pets or children | Arrange supervision elsewhere before visiting. | The sites contain moving vehicles and heavy machinery. |
