Wirral bins not emptied today: diagnose before reporting
A bin is not officially missed until the collection window has passed. Wirral says missed bins cannot be reported until after 5pm on the scheduled collection day and must be reported within three working days.

Wirral brown bin: 2026–27 cost, permit and missed collection rules
The brown bin is a paid domestic garden waste service. It is not for commercial properties, and only bins with a valid subscription should be put out for collection.
Current 2026–27 brown-bin prices
The subscription period runs from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027. The current price is £63.50 for collection of one bin, £34.80 for each additional bin collected, and £50 for a new or replacement brown bin. Payment is by credit or debit card only.
Permit and property rule
Once you subscribe, Wirral sends a permit to display on the brown bin. The subscription is linked to the property, not the person, so it cannot be transferred if you move.

ERIC large item collection: cost, POPs seating and excluded waste
ERIC is Wirral’s large-item collection service for household waste too large for a normal bin. It costs £45 per visit for up to six separate items.
Cost and timing
Wirral aims to offer a collection within 10 working days, depending on demand. You must list the items you want collected; items not listed will not be collected on the day.

Sofas, sofa beds, armchairs, upholstered dining chairs, stools, footstools, home office chairs, futons, beanbags and cushions may be collected by a different vehicle from other booked items.

Do not order a new bin too quickly if it has only just gone missing. Wirral says if your bin is still missing after your next scheduled collection, then report it.

Tips, vans, trailers and asbestos routes

A free appointment system applies at all tips for commercial-type vehicles such as vans, or trailers sized between 2 and 3 metres. Residents using vans or large trailers are allowed a maximum of 12 visits over the year.
