Van, pickup or trailer visit
Use the van and trailer ePass page. It is limited to 12 visits in a 12-month period. If you also use a car, you need a separate car ePass.
No smartphone?
You do not need a smartphone to access the centre once the vehicle is registered, because ANPR checks the number plate. Keep confirmation details for your own records.

DIY waste limits: small home projects only
Waterdale accepts only limited DIY waste from your own home. Waste from a paid builder, contractor, landlord job or business activity is not household DIY waste.
Two rubble bags
For a normal visit, keep DIY rubble, soil or similar waste to up to two 50-litre rubble bags.
One bulky DIY item
Instead of bags, one qualifying bulky DIY item can be accepted if it fits the stated size rule.
Four visits over four weeks
If the job needs more than four DIY waste visits over four weeks, use a commercial or skip route.
Over the limit?
Use Hertfordshire’s chargeable business drop-off at Ware or Welwyn Garden City, or a licensed waste contractor.

Waterdale reuse shop: check before throwing away
If the item is clean, safe and still useful, ask about reuse before disposal. Waterdale has a reuse shop, and staff can direct items when the shop is closed.
Good reuse candidates
Clean furniture, bikes, mirrors, pictures, games, musical instruments and craft supplies may be suitable if complete and safe.
Often refused for reuse
Child car seats, ladders, knives, chemicals, gas appliances or textile furniture without fire labels may be refused for reuse.
Reusable paint
Reusable paint should normally be in its original container, in usable condition and not nearly empty. Check current site guidance before relying on this.
Load it properly
Put reusable items near the boot door so staff can assess them before they are damaged by rubble or wet waste.
Proof, safety and access checks

Bring a driving licence, Council Tax bill, Hertfordshire bus pass or utility bill so staff can check your address if needed.
