Do you need to book Otterspool recycling centre?
No booking is required for a standard car. You must book if you arrive in a van, hired van, single-cab pickup, qualifying modified vehicle or with a trailer between 2m and 3m long.
The appointment is free. Eligible van and large-trailer users can make up to 12 household-waste visits in a year.

No gate charge is published for Merseyside residents bringing their own household waste. The van and large-trailer appointment is also free.

Paper and packaging
Paper, newspapers, magazines, telephone directories, cardboard, cans, Tetrapak cartons, plastic bottles, printer cartridges and takeaway coffee cups.
Garden and timber
Garden and green waste, untreated timber, chipboard, composite wood, MDF and large rigid plastics.
DIY and heavy materials
Rubble, soil, plasterboard or gypsum, scrap metal, carpets and underlay. Keep each material separated.
Electrical and hazardous-format items
Electrical equipment, TVs, monitors, fluorescent tubes, light bulbs, fridges, freezers, white goods, batteries and disposable vapes.

What Otterspool does not accept
Paint
Otterspool does not accept paint. Liverpool residents can use Old Swan, while other MRWA paint sites include Huyton, Bidston, Ravenhead, Sefton Meadows and Southport.
Asbestos
Asbestos is not accepted at Otterspool. Cement-bonded asbestos requires a separate booked Veolia disposal service.
Trade and commercial waste
Waste from a business, paid clearance, landlord activity or commercial building work must use a licensed trade-waste service.
Unconfirmed hazardous waste
Contact MRWA before travelling with chemicals, weedkiller, insecticide or unidentified cleaning products because acceptance depends on type and quantity.

Offer usable furniture to local charities, reuse groups or resale platforms before paying a private collector or disposing of it.
House or business clearance
The council bulky service is not for full clearances. Use a licensed waste carrier and keep the transfer or disposal receipt.
