Who can use Sandfold Lane?

Greater Manchester resident and household-waste rules

Sandfold Lane is for household waste produced by eligible residents. It is not a free disposal route for landlords, tradespeople, builders or businesses.

Eligible residents Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford.
Separate Wigan system Wigan residents should use recycling centres managed by Wigan Council.
Household waste Normal waste and DIY material produced personally at your own home.
Trade waste Not permitted, even when it comes from work completed at a residential property.

Builder and gardener waste: material produced by a tradesperson you hired is business waste. The contractor should include lawful disposal in the quotation and remove it using a commercial route.

ANPR and CCTV are used across Greater Manchester recycling centres to monitor vehicles and visit limits. Site staff can inspect a load and refuse entry where it appears commercial.
